It wasn't a surprise to anyone who lives in this community when Crofton appeared on Money Magazine's list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live 2007. Whether you are a young adult just starting out, a busy family, or an empty-nester, Crofton is a community that you will enjoy calling "home". In fact, I've lived and worked in this community through each of these stages in my own life.
Developed in the 1960's as a gated community for commuters to Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis, Crofton is about 20 minutes to each. The original section of the community was built around the golf course of Crofton Country Club, and Walden Country Club has since been built in Crofton.
Those gates are purely decorative now, and they open to a cherry-tree lined Parkway with American flags displayed on the street light poles. You will find organized sports, annual spring and fall crafts fairs, Halloween parade, Christmas-tree lighting, Santa's arrival on a fire truck, and a parade down Crofton Parkway to mark the beginning of kids' baseball in the spring.
The Greater Crofton area has expanded north and now includes a host of neighborhoods including Chapman Farms, Walden, The Knolls, Crofton Meadows, Crofton Mews, Seton Woods, Blue Ridge, Cedar Grove, Charing Cross, Crofton Manor, Crofton Village and many others.
