Congratulations on your decision to buy a home!
You’ve explored your home-buying options and learned about the financial benefits of owning vs. renting or selling your current home to buy another. You’re ready, willing, and able to become a home owner in the greater Crofton area, including Bowie, Crofton, Davidsonville, Gambrills, Odenton or another nearby community in the D.C.-Baltimore-Annapolis triangle.
If you’re a little nervous, you’re in good company because most home buyers have some concerns or questions as they begin the home-buying process. That’s why I created this website, packed full of information and links to other helpful resources.
Why buy a home now?
Waiting for the “perfect” combination of low mortgage interest rates, low home prices, and a sizable inventory of homes could backfire on you if any of these factors turns in the wrong direction. In fact, today’s market conditions may be the best you’ll see for home buyers in the next few months or years.
There’s more to buying a home than finding a house
Your wish list probably also includes comfortable monthly payments, a neighborhood with certain characteristics, and terms that are a good fit for your situation.
Searching online for a home, real estate agent, and lender is a good first step toward achieving your real estate goals, but you could end up with more questions than answers. That’s because real estate laws and customs differ from one state to the next, and you may find conflicting information on different websites. The information on this website is specific to the greater Crofton area in Maryland, including Bowie, Crofton, Davidsonville, Gambrills, Odenton and other nearby communities in the D.C.-Baltimore-Annapolis triangle.
When you’re ready to take the next step toward buying your next home, just enter “buying a home” in the subject line of the Contact Form at the bottom of this page and provide your contact information in the message section of the form. When I get back to you, we’ll schedule a few minutes to talk or meet, and you can decide for yourself if I’m the right agent to help you.
Home financing options
Home financing options are many and varied. Two thing are certain, regardless of the financing you choose: good credit is a pre-requisite and some up-front financial investment will be needed for your down payment and/or closing costs. There are exceptions, of course, but the only way to find out what you qualify for is to obtain a pre-purchase loan approval.
A lender will review your credit history, verifify that you have adequate funds to close, and confirm that you have a reliable source of income before your application can be approved. You might be surprised at how quickly this can be accomplished – the same day, in many cases.
Some prospective home buyers have asked for access to financial calculators before talking with a lender, so I’ve made them available to you when you click on the link below. Please help yourself to the calculators and then, whenever you’re ready, ask me for the names and contact information for local lenders recommended by past clients.
Click on More about Financing for access to do-it-yourself mortgage calculators and additional information on this topic.
