Hyattsville, Maryland (20781-20785)

Hyattsville, Maryland, is located along the Route 1 corridor between the District of Columbia, to the south, and the city of College Park and the University of Maryland flagship campus to the north.

Hyattsville Arts DistrictAfter years of decline, with only DeMatha Catholic High School bringing any positive press to this community, a major revitalization is underway in the community with development of the Prince George’s County Gateway and Arts Center . You’ll also notice major expansion and improvements to DeMatha.

The trend-setting arts district began in the early 2000’s with demolition of rundown buildings along the Rt. 1 corridor. New townhomes, live-work homes and condos are now breathing new life into this community, with more to come, and shops, galleries, a community center and neighborhood conveniences.

One of the best-kept secrets in Prince George’s County is a Metro station in West Hyattsville, at 2700 Hamilton Street, connecting the community to Washington, D.C. and other Prince George’s communities to the east, including College Park and New Carrollton.

Other than the newer properties in the arts district, homes are located in established neighborhoods with mature landscaping. Prices are modest, when compared to many other close-in communities, so this is a good place to start if you’re looking for a place to live that’s both affordable and convenient to our Nation’s Capitol or the University of Maryland.
