Odenton

Odenton, Maryland (21113)

Odenton is bordered by Fort Meade to the west, Gambrills to the east, Severn to the north, and Crofton to the south.  The community is easily accessible to both Washington and Baltimore via the Baltimore Washington Parkway (I-295) and Annapolis via I-97.

Odenton Rail StationIt’s an old railroad town along the Annapolis & Elk Railroad (A&E), which connected Annapolis to Washington, D.C. through Western Anne Arundel County. This was the Union’s only link for transporting soldiers and supplies between the North and our Nation’s Capital during the Civil War, after southern sympathizers disrupted rail traffic through Baltimore. Today’s Odenton is a busy commuting hub for the MARC – a commuter rail service that links Baltimore and Washington.

Military and civilian personnel gravitate to this community for its proximity to Fort Meade for work and the services available on-post for active duty and retired service members and their families. It’s equally attractive for commuters to D.C. and Baltimore, due to its location midway between the two cities – about a half hour to each.

Piney Orchard and Seven Oaks are two large residential developments here. Each of them offers affordable home ownership and rental options, community pools, clubhouses, and walking paths.

Expansion recommended by BRAC 2005 to Ft. Meade and the National Security Administration (NSA) has attracted countless government contractors and supporting businesses to the area. This suggests that Odenton is a very good place to invest in real estate today.
