Fort Meade

Fort George G. Meade

Welcome to Fort George G. Meade, located less than 40 minutes from D.C., Baltimore, and Annapolis in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Fort MeadeThis installation is home to 10,000 active duty military members and more than 30,000 civilians – but that number is constantly growing, as many new commands and functions relocate to the area under BRAC 2005.

You will find many nice communities outside the gates of Fort Meade in Odenton (21113), Gambrills (21054), Crofton (21114) and other nearby areas, as well as excellent public schools. If your spouse works in D.C. or Baltimore, he/she will have several commuting options including the MARC train, about 5 minutes away, in Odenton.

Health care options include Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center and the new Army Wellness Center, on post, and U.S. Family Health Care at Johns Hopkins – a designated TriCare Prime provider with a large clinic five minutes away and others located throughout the area – perhaps in the neighborhood where you choose to live.

If you’re relocating to the area for a second career, and you or your spouse are over 55, you’ll find that Anne Arundel County rolls out the red carpet for “active adults” in several age-restricted communities within 15 minutes of Fort Meade.

Whatever your wants and needs, chances are you’ll be able to satisfy them easily within a half hour of Fort Meade.
