Annapolis, Maryland (21401, 21403, 21409)

Annapolis USNA ObservatoryAnnapolis, Maryland, is located approximately 30 miles east of Washington, D.C. and south of Baltimore, MD. It is the state capitol and beloved by Marylanders for its maritime ambiance and colonial charm.

Downtown is an historic old city, yet many suburban neighborhoods are located nearby. Many of them have stunning waterfront views and several offer marina facilities for residents.

“Come Sail Away to a place where history lives in a museum without walls. Lose yourself in a quaint seaport village steeped in hundreds of years of maritime heritage. The vibe is laid-back, the scenery is awe-inspiring and the local fare is seasoned with the flavors of the Chesapeake Bay. You will want to come back again and again,” according to the Annapolis Visitor’s Bureau.

As you walk along the downtown streets today, you’ll find more surviving colonial period buildings than any other city in America. Founded in 1649 by a group of Virginia Puritans seeking religious tolerance, Anne Arundel Town became the capital city of Maryland in 1695 and was renamed to honor Princess Anne, heiress to the English throne.

No description of this historic city would be complete without mentioning that it is home to The United States Naval Academy and St. John’s College, as well as the Maryland State Capitol. Sandy Point State Park is located on the western shore of the Severn River, at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

When it comes to living here, you will find homes ranging from prestigious waterfront estates to starter condos and everything in between. Major highways link the city to Washington, D.C. (Maryland Route 50), Baltimore, (I-97) and Ocean City, Maryland (Maryland Route 50).

You’ll no doubt love the ambiance of Annapolis, with its historic buildings, small businesses, sailboat races, fine restaurants, and Navy football.
